The FAI DRONE SOCCER OPEN INTERNATIONAL CUP was held in South Korea from 1st to 2nd June 2024. Not only Korean teams participated in the tournament, but also drone soccer teams from Hong Kong and Taiwan.
HELSEL participated as an official sponsor of the competition.
The competition was divided into two classes, the FAI F9A-A CLASS, which uses a 40cm drone ball, and the B CLASS, which uses a 22cm drone ball.
On the first day of the tournament, the preliminary tournament was held, and on the second day, the semifinals and final tournaments were held.
Most of the participating teams used HELSEL's STRIKER and TIKE.
Drone Soccer competitions are typically held indoors. However, since the competition was held in conjunction with FAI's Drone Racing, drone Soccer stadiums were installed outdoors. I thought it would be difficult for drone balls to fly outdoors due to the influence of the wind, but HELSEL's STRIKER and TIKE were able to fly without any problems because of the powerful motor.
However, some participants who used drone balls equipped with weak motors did not fly properly outdoors. Choosing the most suitable drone ball is very important to perform well in the competition.
The two-day FAI DRONE SOCCER OPEN INTERNATIONAL CUP was won by the RCIN LEPORTS team of South Korea.
HELSEL's sponsored drone soccer champion team RCIN LEPORTS has also won FAI drone soccer competitions in Hungary and the United States. The RCIN LEPORTS team won both 40cm A CLASS and 22cm B CLASS using HELSEL's STRIKER and TIKE, becoming the champion of both CLASSs.
Drone Soccer is both a great sport and a great educational solution. Students naturally acquire drone technology by controlling and customizing the ball themselves. They also compete with other students and become national representatives.
